Tabletop gaming has been around for thousands of years, with some of the oldest tabletop games heralding from the 30th century BCE in the Fertile Crescent. The release of D&D 5th edition in 2014 brought a new generation of creative minds to the tabletop gaming space. This has been combined with the resurgence in popularity of board games, leaving many people searching for opportunities to play these games. The club helps ensure there will be an available group for extended tabletop campaigns and regular board game meetups for any student who is interested.

The club emphasizes being open and welcoming to anyone who seeks to join. With an extensive library of games to suit the preferences of anyone who wants to play, the club offers a wide variety of tabletop experiences. Some of the most popular staples of the club’s board gaming collection are the social deduction game Blood on the Clocktower, the resource management game Settlers of Catan, and the strategy game Carcassonne.

The club also hosts D&D campaigns, with opportunities for both players and dungeon masters. Campaigns are held on an interest basis; any student who wishes to participate in or host a D&D campaign should voice their interest to a club officer so that they may gauge the demand for starting a new campaign.

For students who enjoy card games, the TTG club has a sizable Magic: The Gathering player base. At any given meeting, there are often 3-4 people playing MTG, meaning anyone interested in playing can rest assured that there will be potential opponents at any TTG club meeting.

There is no formal signup process to join the club; one only needs to attend a meeting to become a member. The meetings are held every Monday and Wednesday in the student life center and run from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
“How welcoming [is the club] to new members?”
“Really welcoming… [we’re] just happy that people are still coming in,” Zeke, a nonstudent Tabletop Club member, told us. “Honestly, right now I’d have to pick magic the gathering… another big one is Blood on the Clocktower.”
“What keeps you coming back to the tabletop club?”
“I like the people a lot.. talking to them and occasionally playing a game with them.” -Olivia, student, TTGC member.
Any student interested in joining the tabletop club should contact Club President Zé Mireles via email at zmireles@student.cccs.edu.
