Spooky Soiree Chills and Thrills Westminster Campus

Front Range Community College’s Westminster Campus held its “Spooky Soiree” event on October 30th, 2025, which was a Halloween-themed experience that encompassed a variety of activities that were similar Halloween-themed. Dozens of students were present throughout its presence at the campus from 4 to well past 9:30 PM.

Among the festivities in the Rotunda area included a DJ – Diosa Sola was said DJ – & dance floor. The dance floor, approximately 30 minutes behind schedule, yielded to a drag show, yet it drew in particularly large engagement and applause from the crowd.

Food, drinks, and desserts (some by the Sinister Bakers at BCC) were provided, as was face paint, and a tarot card reader. Other student organizations including TRIO, SGA themselves, and The Front Page also had tables to advertise themselves. The planned art vendors for the event were not present.

SGA also held the Witch’s Food Drive at the event, a raffle that provided a chance to win a $250 scholarship to anyone who donated canned food. Psychology student Kaylub Murphy won the scholarship.

A costume contest was also held after the drag show, at the tail end of the evening, with a selection of 4 judges giving scores of up to 40 points.

Further attractions were found in the Rocky Mountain Room, with an inflatable haunted house maze, several tables representing clubs – including the anime club and Phi Theta Kappa, a Dungeons & Dragons one-shot, and an Xbox 360 with Just Dance and Guitar Hero available to play, among others.

The last time the Westminster Campus hosted a dance was back in late April 2022. However, it turned out that “this dance was not hard to green light”, according to SGA representative Nymph DeHerrera.

“I sent an event request form at the beginning of October, and by emailing Student Life myself, we were able to get approved quite quickly. The FRCC staff seemed very excited about the idea of this!”, she continued.

This is in contrast to April 2023, just before a recording of Up Front with SGA, where the prospect of a dance seemed unlikely to be green lit, per Alex Ziemek.

2025 SGA Westminster President Conner Medberry and Vice-President from the Boulder Campus, Deherrera Nymph, had been planning out the Spooky Soiree for some time.

“The Spooky Soiree has been planned out for the past month and a half, roughly. I [had] the idea since last semester and was thinking about it since then,” said DeHerrera.

Connor Medberry, SGA WC president, remarked at the event that he was “very happy about the turnout!” He expected an attendance of 100. I had said that I thought we were only going to have 100 people turn up, but I’m very happy!

“We haven’t done a whole lot of advertising, so we weren’t expecting many people to show up, but it looks like we have around 200 and are expecting even more people to just stop by,” he continued. “I’m going to be very happy with how it’s turning out, as we are probably going to end with around 300 people.”

About what he hoped students would take away from the event, he stated, “I would love for students to meet another person and to talk with them, and to really get to know each other. My hope is for them to realize that FRCC is a fun place to be at.”
