FRCC hosted a fun, interactive, improv comedy show that had the crowd laughing with excitement. They supplied food and drinks and for the first time in the Larimer campus’s history, they supplied alcoholic beverages. They brought in the local Colorado improv comedy troupe The Comedy Brewers. The event brought in a large crowd of people who came to have a fun time, laugh, and interact with the comedy in front of them.
FRCC supplied a wide variety of snacks, sandwiches, and desserts. The sandwiches were from Jimmy Johns and had several different types of meats, as well as vegan and vegetarian options. The desserts had a selection of brownies, cookies, and other pastries.
This was the first time the Larimer FRCC campus hosted an event and had alcohol at the event. The process to be able to get alcohol from the bar in the back of the room was set up in an easy but safe manner. When you enter the event you go to the front to sign in and for the option to get alcohol, you have to show ID to get a wristband which proves that you are the legal drinking age. The event gave a complimentary 2 free drinks with the limit also being only two drinks per person. They had a selection of hard seltzers, beer, and wine to appeal to different types of alcohol preferences.
The Comedy Brewers are a local improv comedy troupe located around Fort Collins that normally performs at local bars and clubs. The group consists of 12 members, but for the event at FRCC, they had 5 with one of them being a pianist. The group has been working with each other for 11 years. It all started because they were all in the same play and before the show, they were doing improv warm-ups then they decided that they should make a troupe of their own and do improv. The common thing shared by the group members was they felt so close, almost like family. Dan Tschirhart, a founding member had said, “They are dependable and good people”.
The seats were packed with people who were full of energy and ready for a show. They started with an introduction and then went straight into the act. The show was full of singing, dancing, acting, and audience suggestions. The crowd was very active and ready to give suggestions with some of them being stranger than others. They did everything from pretending to be in a car to having an alien as a roommate. The comedy Brews brought an amazing energy and an outstanding performance.
The show was excellently done by a highly capable comedy troup and was handled well by the FRCC staff and students. From everything with the drinks and food to the venue being well set up. Overall another outstanding event from FRCC.
