Save The Date! Spooky Soirée is Here!

When was the last time FRCC had a dance at the Westminster campus?

April 29th, 2022 was the last time FRCC had a dance here at the Westminster campus. It was filled with most things someone could ever want from a dance. With a DJ and food, what could go wrong?

On October 30th, 2025, the Westminster Campus will be having another one! It’s not just any dance, it’s a Halloween-themed dance! The Spooky Soirée is here!

When asked how long the soiree has taken to plan, Nymph DeHerrera, the Vice President of Boulder County Campus’s SGA (Student Government Association), said, “The Spooky Soirée has been planned out for the past month and a half, roughly. I did have the idea since last semester and was thinking about it since then.”

When asked about what people should know going into the event, DeHerrera stated, “This is a Halloween-themed event, so students should wear costumes, because there will be a costume contest!

“This event is led by students for students, and SGA is an organization that is open to receiving new members to help with future events,” she continued. “Our main goal for the Spooky Soirée is to help people make connections within the school. There will be many fun activities, such as a drag show, a haunted house, games, a swordplay station, and more!”

Now, when asked why people should come to this event, DeHerrera responded, “It will give them a great way to see how students can make the student experience more enjoyable. We, as SGA, have put in a lot of time and thought into the Spooky Soirée, and we want the students to enjoy themselves.”

DeHerrera also touched upon the food pantry opportunity that is accompanying the dance. “We are also having a food drive going along with this dance as a way to fill our school pantry. The pantries in multiple counties (not just school ones) have been running out due to budget cuts in the government, and we want to provide food to our community.”

“This event will bring awareness to this issue and will provide the students with an opportunity to help each other out through food donations,” she concluded.

Why did it take this long to have a dance back at the Westminster campus? The question remains unanswered.

DeHerrera said in reaction to the gap that “That’s crazy! This dance was not hard to green-light! I sent an event request form at the beginning of October, and by emailing Student Life myself, we were able to get approved quite quickly. The FRCC staff seemed very excited about the idea of this!”

The Spooky Soirée takes place on October 30th from 4:00 to 9:30 PM, in the Rotunda on FRCC’s Westminster campus.
