The NFL Player That Never Existed

A close up shoot of Love wearing 49ers gear

Daejon Love is a name that held no relevance in NFL circles just a few short weeks ago but after his bizarre arrest on August 24, 2026, he is the definition of relevant. Love was charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud along with Taylor Jamie Chan.

Love, who is 35, allegedly set up fake investments to defraud women with Chan, who is 18, beginning back in 2022. This is allegedly the same scheme that lasted all the way until August 24, 2026

The scheme allegedly relied heavily on Love’s internet persona as a wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers. Love paraded around a lifestyle of luxury and fame, ultimately to convince many of the victims to enter into romantic relationships with him. In these relationships, Love allegedly convinced these women that he was an extremely wealthy investor, with Chan posing as his financial advisor. In tandem, these men scammed at least 26 identified victims out of a total of $1.3 million.

Both Love and Chan, who are responsible for this $1.3 million dollar scheme

Love has exploded in popularity following his arrest with multiple people on the internet making fun of him. Even famous real NFL players joined in, with Lamar Jackson making fun of him in the comments of an Instagram Reel.

Love went by multiple aliases, including Jordan Love, who is a real NFL player and notably the starting QB for the Green Bay Packers.
