In my first year of classes at Front Range, I had little direction and was simply taking classes to take them. I knew at some point I wanted to transfer to a university, but beyond that, I was lost. While searching for answers, I came across a green-clad table.

Located in the Longs Peak Student Center — behind it every Thursday during the school year sits Alejandra Alvarez, Colorado State University’s dedicated transfer advisor, ready to help students navigate the often-confusing transfer process.

At the time, I was unsure of what major I was interested in or how to even begin, but speaking with Alvarez gave me the foothold I didn’t know I needed.

Alvarez offers one-on-one guidance for students considering a move to CSU. Whether it’s figuring out how previously earned credits will transfer, understanding degree pathways, or simply learning when and how to apply, Alvarez brings clarity to the process.

During my own time at FRCC, I’ve met with her several times — often with uncertainty about my future plans. Each time, she came prepared with detailed information and a calm, reassuring presence. Her depth of knowledge and willingness to walk through websites and resources with students make her an invaluable resource.

Some of the tools she shares include transfer planning guides, major-specific requirements, and application deadlines — tools students can access on their own, but often benefit from going over together. Students can stop by her table on Thursdays at the Student Center or reach out to her via email or phone for additional support.

Students can also keep an eye out for CSU transfer events held on campus — the information is posted on signs out and about.
