Students at Front Range Community College’s Westminster campus have ample leadership opportunities this semester. Many of these opportunities qualify students for scholarships, letters of recommendation, or provide chances to network with potential employers and colleagues. Students who take advantage of some of the leadership opportunities below report gaining business experience, academic skills, and valuable additions to their resumes.
Altitude is a leadership program unique to the Westminster campus, where students develop leadership skills by attending conferences, book clubs, TED Talk showings, retreats, and service opportunities.
The two levels of the program are Summiteer and Fourteener. Students can complete events. For example, attending a broadcast for The National Society of Leadership and Success, or being sworn in as a representative of the Student Government Association, counts towards the steps one has to take to complete these levels.
The Westminster chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success is kicking off with a live broadcast with Juju Chang, co-anchor of ABC News’ Nightline, on February 9 at 5:00pm in the Snowy Peaks Room (C0578). Additionally, the organization will host an orientation, Leadership Training Day, two other speaker broadcasts, rebroadcasts of each live broadcast, and an induction ceremony towards the end of the semester.
This semester, the society will distribute more than $200,000 in scholarships and awards to members. It will also have openings for numerous positions on the executive board.

The Student Government Association is recruiting representatives for the student body. Representatives must attend weekly meetings, participate in committee work, serve two office hours a week, and help with special events. Representatives who meet these requirements earn a $200 stipend.
In addition to the money, students involved with the Student Government Association build a strong network of important people. As part of the student government, students have meetings with FRCC President Dorsey, attend statewide conferences, and host social events on campus, just to name a few.
Front Range Community College students should take advantage of leadership opportunities. Altitude, The National Society of Leadership and Success, and Student Government Association are only three of the many leadership organizations with plentiful opportunities.
